The Genesis of the Honor Watch Foundation

Holly Shankleton

Holly is married to Scott Shankleton and they have two children. Holly has cultivated and maintained a strong passion for volunteering from her youth. She has always been the person known to take the time to listen and speak with individuals who were struggling in life. Volunteering at churches most of her life, her background in the for-profit and non-profit sectors can best be described as a blend of youth work, business development, and organizational advancement.

Honor Watch Foundation is the natural outgrowth of Holly and Scott’s love for Hawaii blended with their passion for volunteering,

Holly and her husband Scott conceptualized and founded the Honor Watch Foundation during a staycation in Hawaii. They could not help but notice how much joy individuals and families were experiencing at the beach, during activities, and around the pool.

People frequently expressed their joy, the freedom found in rest and relaxation while on the island. The stress relief was a dream come true for them.

The couple started brainstorming on how to “package” the Hawaiian experience and deliver it to those who are dealing with or recovering from trauma. How could they facilitate a much-needed respite for those suffering? They teamed with other willing partners and the Honor Watch Foundation was born.

The Foundation has, through generous donations of funds, time and services has been providing positive life-altering experiences to cancer and ALS patients, PTSD survivors, amputees that were otherwise considered unachievable.

Everyone involved with the Honor Watch Foundation loves seeing individuals and families unify during a special time that builds strong bonds, lasting memories, and creates a new hope for the tougher times that lay ahead.
